Amazing Manuka Honey and Manuka Oils at Jessa Skin

Manuka Honey and Manuka Oils are now available at Jessa Skin! We have been aware of the benefits of manuka for quite some time, but after years of our own research and development  we are now able to offer it at our spa in San Rafael, CA.  We are confident our clients are going to love the antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory benefits of these amazing new products.

While there has been a lot of information available about manuka recently, it has actually been used as a healing element by the traditional people of New Zealand since pre-European times.  Manuka honey and oils are still widely used in New Zealand.  In fact, New Zealand hospitals use manuka honey to treat burn victims.

Derived from the manuka tree, manuka oil is from the same family as tea tree. Studies have shown that the main difference between manuka and tea tree oils is that manuka is 33x more effective than tea tree without the burning sensation that many people complain about tea tree.

Manuka honey has as much antibacterial elements as manuka oil. Bees use pollen from the manuka tree to create the honey. It contains super powered bacterial & fungal reducers. Since manuka honey is edible, it can also be added to teas or eaten directly to help with sore throats and infections.  It is safe for children after age 1 year (although we recommend consulting your pediatrician before beginning use) and we think it is a definite “must have” for moms to keep stocked at all times!

The list is practically endless for the types of ailments that can be alleviated or treated with manuka honey and oil. From insect bites and cuts, scratches and abrasions to skin irritation and pimple treatment, manuka honey and oil is a natural cure-all.

Of course, at Jessa Skin we are all about making your skin beautiful and know that manuka can help you achieve your goals. Jessa Skin’s manuka products include:

100% Manuka Honey UMF 16+ Mask – When manuka honey is applied to the skin, you get a strong anti-oxidant, hydrogen peroxide (oxygen), lactic acid (exfoliation), and humectant effect. Humectants pull moisture out of infected areas on skin, while simultaneously pulling moisture from the air to balance skin’s moisture levels. Our mask helps to soothe and hydrate the skin and is good for all skins, especially sensitive. Ideal for people concerned with pimples, dark spots and bacteria reduction.   If pimple breakouts are severe, we advise using the Manuka Honey Mask 2-3 times per week until the situation is under control.  After that, switching to 1 time per week maintenance is adequate.

It is important to know that not all manuka honey is created equal.  There are three different kinds of manuka, but only batches with high UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) ratings have the high antibacterial elements that are most beneficial.  Our UMF 16+ mask is considered a high rating.

100% Manuka Essential Oil -Use this product on its own to treat pimples, dark spots and burns.  We advise that you do not over apply this product, just a light layer should fully soak into the skin, if too much is applied it will sit on the surface; it takes 2 minutes to soak in.  The 100% Manuka Essential Oil can also be added to lotions and cleansers in small doses.

10% Manuka Redless-Pimple Serum – With manuka oil and red raspberry, this amazing product works on all skins to discourage inflammation and protects the skin.

In addition to the benefits of manuka oil, this serum contains red raspberry seed.  Red Rasberry Seed contains 83% of Essential Fatty Acids or EFA’s, the most abundant of which are linoleic, alpha linolenic and oleic acids.  These are omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids has been shown to reduce the effects of oxidative stress in skin. It is full of vitamin A which is great for breakouts. It also has the ability to protect us from the sun.  Independent studies  have shown strong sun protection up to SPF 20-50 from this oil.

Use this serum on both your body and face to prevent bacteria from forming.  The benefits include: lessens redness, reduces inflamed pimples and scarring.
