Homemade Pimple Treatment

If you are in a pinch and haven’t had time to purchase good anti-acne products, we recommend this homemade pimple treatment – organic honey.  It is important that the honey is organic without any sugar mixed in. One of the best types of honey for the skin is manuka honey.

Manuka honey has natural antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin. When manuka honey is applied to the skin, you get a strong anti-oxidant, hydrogen peroxide (oxygen), lactic acid (exfoliation), and humectant effect. Humectants pull moisture out of infected areas on skin, while simultaneously pulling moisture from the air to balance skin’s moisture levels. It is ideal for people concerned with pimples, dark spots and bacteria reduction.

Not all manuka honey is created equal.  There are three different kinds of manuka, but only batches with high UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) ratings have the high antibacterial elements that are most beneficial.

We recommend applying manuka honey as a mask 2-3 times per week for severe pimple breakouts and 1 time per week for maintenance.  Leave the mask on for 10-20 minutes then wash off with warm water and gently pat the face dry.
